Description:
This board is designed to pack in some extra foam but still has the on-rail drive feel of a thinner board, with the rail more locked into the wave. This idea was pulled from Sparrows original ideas for his bigger-wave boards and guns. When applied to our shorter boards and fish mods, the Step Deck is felt most on waves that tend to have a bit more of vertical wall, allowing the thinner mid-rail between the feet to really set into the wave, whereas a boxed-out, fuller rail could resist the input from the surfer. On these shorter boards, the effect is much more subtle, and its really felt more as the boards get longer. Its definitely a nice compromise for getting that extra paddle volume.
